The Certificate IV in Disability prepares students for work in a range of roles in community settings and clients’ homes in one of the fastest growing sectors. Disability support workers train and support those with disabilities to become more independent and self-reliant, to participate more in community and to experience greater levels of well being.

Working without direct supervision, workers promote a person-centered approach and may be required to supervise and coordinate small teams. Stirling Institute of Australia’s Certificate IV in Disability is a nationally recognised qualification.

What does the work placement involve?

As part of the Certificate IV in Disability Support, you will complete an industry work placement of at least 120 hours. This involves “real” work experience gained within a “real” working environment. Student placements provide students with the opportunity to apply the theory and skills they learned while studying in a professional workplace.  Placement hours must be attended 100%.

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements:

Completion of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

OR 

Completion of: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

OR 

Completion of: CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.

Admission Requirements:

There are no barriers to entry based on age (other than post school students over 16 who will require parent / guardian permission), gender, social or educational background. Students need to be able bodied and have the physical capacity to undertake the practical application of the program as outlined below.

Student should have foundation skills at the ACSF levels listed within this document. This is tested during our Pre-Training Review. Each student is required to complete the Language, Literacy & Numeracy assessment to determine what level they are currently working at and if they are suitable to proceed with this qualification. Where students do not have skills, they may be provided with additional support to develop their literacy and numeracy skills to this level, if appropriate, or alternatively they will be provided information on other more appropriate courses.  

Additional Requirements

  1. A satisfactory National Police Check (NPC) will be required for all practical placements.

  2. Immunisation certificate may be requested by the host employer.

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) prepares you to care for Australian seniors and people with a range of disabilities. This care can take place in residential facilities and in client homes, enabling you to make a real change in their lives.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing or disability.

Duration

Estimated duration of 35 tuition weeks (excluding holidays and work placement) allowing sufficient time to develop the necessary skills and knowledge in each unit.

Further Study Pathways

After achieving CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, students may continue their studies by enrolling in the following course:

Entry Requirements

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, prospective students need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at Certificate III level, this can be demonstrated via the following:

  • Pre-training review to ensure student has the appropriate level of Language Literacy and Numeracy to achieve the competencies. Where a test result is supplied, it must be within the last 12 months.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • A satisfactory National Police Check (NPC) and where a student has resided in another country from the age of 16, as a permanent resident or citizen, they will be required to provide a Statutory Declaration

(REHABILITATION AND REABLEMENT SUPPORT)


The Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance will train you to assist patients with their rehabilitation exercises that include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and conduct group sessions.

You’ll work alongside health professionals such as physiotherapists, and occupational therapists to facilitate rehabilitation and to empower clients with strategies for daily living.

Allied health workers assist patients in carrying out routine physiotherapy exercises in groups or individually. You will also support the implementation of care plans for a diverse range of clients to care for themselves and develop independent living skills.

Work is not limited to hospitals. You can also find employment in community health, rehabilitation centres or via home and special needs school visits.

Duration

Estimated duration of 37 tuition weeks (excluding holidays and work placement) allowing sufficient time to develop the necessary skills and knowledge in each unit.

+ Is the course Government Accredited?

Yes we are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and our Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy (10177NAT) is part of the AQF (Australian Quality Framework). This means that your qualification will be recognised by employers, insurers, associations and even other training providers if you go on to further study. Our courses are designed to equip you with the skills needed begin a career in Hypnotherapy.

+ How long is the course?

The course is 40 (20 weekends) classroom days over 13 months, the days in the classroom are on weekends from 9 to 5pm.

+ Who are the trainers?

Our trainers are experienced, and some of the best Hypnotherapy trainers in Australia. They’re specialist experts in their field with many, many years sharing their experience and helping people just like you become great therapists, as well as running their own private practices. We have 4 different trainers on the course.

+ How much practical work is there?

There is practice in every classroom session, where you will see live demonstrations, then go and practice for yourself, in a safe, structured environment, gently guided, prompted and encouraged by our expert trainers. Our courses are designed to do two things: first, to share with you the skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to do great work as a Clinical Hypnotherapist; and second, just as importantly, to share with you the skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to set up, launch and grow your own private Clinical Hypnotherapy practice, attracting just as many clients as you want to see.

+ How much written work is there?

For each of the 14 units we cover, there is a written assessment, consisting of questions, case studies and a project. You can find the relevant information in the Hypnotherapy manuals you are provided or with your own research and in class. There are practical assessments during the course, to give you one on one feedback and guide you.

+ Is it online?

We pride ourselves in hands on training in the classroom, this is where you can really learn how to be a hypnotherapist.

+ Can I join a Hypnotherapy association?

Yes after completion of the course you can join a Hypnotherapy Professional Association which then gives you membership to the Hypnotherapy Council of Australia (HCA). In turn, this means you can get insurance to practice, and even your own private healthcare provider number.

+ What model of Hypnotherapy do we learn?

We cover many different models of therapy, as one approach doesn’t fit everyone, we look at your client as your script, we show you how to work with that client, to allow them to move forward. Putting someone in trance is the easy part, what therapies you use with them, that is what we show you how to do.
