The 22639VIC Certificate II in EAL (Access), outcomes focus on the development of English language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills together with electives selected to develop relevant knowledge and skills for simple everyday communication and community participation and to enable participants to move into further English language education or vocational training or a combination of both, or employment.
There is no direct link between this accredited course and licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification as per the training package rules.
Admission requirements:
The courses contained in the EAL Framework are aligned to ISLPR and IELTS levels as a guide to placement in courses. (EAL Framework, Appendices B & C)
The entry to the 22639VIC Certificate II in EAL (Access) qualification is determined according to the following criteria:
a participant’s learning and pathway needs including employability skills, literacies (digital and other literacies), and further educational and vocational training needs.
· a participant’s current English language skills. (The Listening and Speaking and Reading and Writing units in the Framework may provide the basis for initial assessment processes and placement of participants at the appropriate proficiency level). A learner’s suitability should be assessed against a suitable framework such as the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) or the International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR).
a participant’s prior formal education experience, both overseas and in Australia
any prior EAL learning
There are no barriers to entry based on age (other than post school students over 16), gender, social or educational background. Selection of learners for 22639VIC Certificate II in EAL (Access) is based on their need to develop English language, literacy, numeracy and knowledge skills for further study, employment, or community participation.
Student should have an ACSF entry level 1+ with an exit level 2 as per the Appendices B & C of EAL Framework. This is tested during our Pre-training review. Each student is required to complete the Language, Literacy & Numeracy assessment to determine what level they are currently working at and if they are suitable to proceed with this qualification. (Please refer to PP36 Language Literacy and Numeracy Policy and Procedure)
Where students do not have skills, they may be provided with additional support to develop their literacy and numeracy skills to this level if appropriate, or alternatively they will be provided information on other more appropriate courses. Students who have partially achieved in LLN Test will be provided with Individual Learning Plan and support will be provided to the students to achieve the desired level of the qualification.
A matrix comparing a range of EAL scales and accredited course exit levels is provided in Appendices B & C of EAL Framework to assist in determining the most appropriate placement of learners according to their existing English language proficiency.
USI Requirements: Learners are required to comply with Evidence of enrolments at the time of enrolment with Stirling Institute. Students are required to provide appropriate forms of IDs to confirm their eligibility to enroll in this course. Students are required to apply for unique student identification (USI) number while their study period in Australia and this information will be handed to the students at the time of orientation. IT Literacy Requirements:
This qualification requires a basic understanding and use of computers and the internet. Basic understanding and use of computers will be required for the students to be able to do research and extend their knowledge acquired in class. Students will be required to be able to connect to Zoom if classes are required to be completed virtually. Support will be provided as required to develop the students’ skills via free support classes and instructions and virtual class etiquette available on our website.
