The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) prepares you to care for Australian seniors and people with a range of disabilities. This care can take place in residential facilities and in client homes, enabling you to make a real change in their lives.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing or disability.

Duration

Estimated duration of 52 weeks (40 tuition weeks) allowing sufficient time to develop the necessary skills and knowledge in each unit.

Further Study Pathways

After achieving CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, students may continue their studies by enrolling in the following course:

  • CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support

  • CHC43321 Certificate IV in Disability

Entry Requirements

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, prospective students need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at a Certificate III level, this can be demonstrated via the following:

  • Pre-training review to ensure student has the appropriate level of Language Literacy and Numeracy to achieve the competencies. Where a test result is supplied, it must be within the last 12 months.

  • IELTS test with an average score of 6.0 (with each individual band no less than 5.5) or equivalent. 

  • Basic computer skills.

  • You will need to be at least 18 years old.

Additional Requirements

  • A satisfactory National Police Check (NPC) and where a student has resided in another country from the age of 16, as a permanent resident or citizen, they will be required to provide a Statutory Declaration

  • Immunisation certificate including fully vaccinated against COVID by a TGA approved

Assessment

Assessment is both formative and summative and will include a combination of interactive class activities, questioning, role plays, case studies, research projects and industry work placement.

During placement hours, students will be supervised by professional staff and placement assessments will be facilitated by Stirling trainers and assessors.

Course Fees: $12,150

  • $11,750 Tuition fees
  • $250 enrolment fee (non-refundable)
  • $100 textbook
  • $50 polo shirt fee

Note: The student tuition fees as published are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.

+ Mode of Study

  • 40 tuition weeks plus breaks (minimum 6 weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks
  • 20 hours delivery per week
  • 120 hours of vocational placement in a suitable workplace. Vocational placement will only be organised using Approved Aged Care and Disability Suppport provider.

+ Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT)
